Treasures.
Dropped into the Sunday flea market at the Halifax Forum today. Years ago, in my uninformed youth, I would go to the flea market, buy a samosa or two, peruse things and think “pfft what a load of junk.”
I was such a dickhead back then.
Now I can see past the dirt, years and various shades of B.O. to the treasures to be had there. They’re just waiting for a gentle hand to bring them back to their glory.
And look what I found today!
Harkening to me from my youth, it is a tick-tock clock (technical term) with the lumi-glow hands and everything! It’s a Westclox Baby Ben Style #9 which has definitely seen better days. It has all the little bells and whistles on the back that I recall on the larger, less stylish clock that I had. Steve questioned whether or not the constant ticking would annoy me – he seems to think I am easily irked, which is odd because I’m a very calm and cent-JESUS GOD WILL YOU KIDS OUT THERE SHUT UP WITH THE TRAMPOLINING? THAT RELENTLESS SQUEAKING NOISE SUFFUSES THE NEIGHBORHOOD WITH HATE!!
Anyway, check out the booty on my clock!
Notice on the right how they have an option to speed or slow time itself. You just can’t get that in a bedside clock these days.
The plan is to refurbish this little beauty with some fancy colours and shiny paint. I’ll just unscrew the back of it and see how it goes from there, so stay tuned.
What could possibly go wrong?
