Summer BBQ

What better way to end a sunny summer’s day than with a BBQ with a few friends - especially the kind who bring marvellous treats with them like these onion tartlettes (which were only improved with the addition of Pat’s bread and butter pickles):

I made a delicious bbq pineapple salad (recipe) with red onions and basil.

And Steve manned the Kamado Joe in his usual masterful style:

(Steve is a manufacturers rep for  some amazing BBQs so our deck is rather full of cookers – hence the picnic table in the yard we always sit at).

There’s always excellent toppings for the steaks, including the Dutchman’s Dragon’s Breath Blue Cheese, and even Herbed Marrow Butter from a  local butcher. Yes, marrow butter, or as my friend Greg puts is “We are spreading part of the cow on to another part of the cow. Genius.” It is pretty tasty.

The final note of the night came from amazing little desserts from Scanway.

We rounded it all off with some washer toss by street light.

A pretty fine way to end the day.
