Inspiration: Decanter lights
I love cut glass and crystal - the way the light just bounces off it. I love thick, glittery, cut crystal decanters too, and the way their content shave such depth and colour. Oh and hey I love their contents. Mmmmm decanter juice!
So imagine my delight when I saw these upcycled decanters turned into gorgeous light fixtures by Lee Broom.
I’m going to need to speak to Steve about a glass-cutting project. But first, a glass of Sherry….

What kind of light do you put in the bottles and how do you keep them in??? I was so excited when I saw the site as I have many of the bottles….(that I used to put Irish Creme in for Christmas presents.) I knew some day I would see a use for them besides the Irish Cr.
Thanks!
If you check the link at the bottom that takes you to the original source for these – but sadly it’s a professional designer. If you look closely at the decanters, he has cut the bottom out of them to let the light cast. That’s the tricky bit. You’d need to get the bottom off the decanters, which means cutting glass. This could possibly be accomplished with a tile saw – if the decanter doesn’t have a smooth surface – if the surface is smooth you might be able to use a glass cutter. The fixture wiring goes in through the neck, so it wouldn’t be hard ot get it to stay put as it’s held in place by the narrowing.
So yeah – one of the trickier things I’ve seen and that’s likely why you don’t see too many of these around, sadly. They are pretty gorgeous.
